Alexandra Kushnir is a PhD candidate at l’Institut des Sciences de la Terre d’Orléans (ISTO) in Orléans, France. She is a volcanologist studying the development of permeable gas networks in deforming two- and three-phase rhyolitic magmas. In particular, her research focuses on the in-situ measurement of permeability at conduit pressures and magmatic temperatures during deformation. The awarded poster tracks the permeability evolution of basaltic andesites from Merapi, Indonesia as a function of temperature and highlights the technical challenges associated with these types of measurements.
