The 2014 Outstanding Student Poster (OSP) Award is awarded to Michael von Papen for the poster/PICO entitled:
Evaluation of reduced power spectra from three-dimensional k-space (von Papen, M.; Saur, J.)
Michael von Papen is a PhD student at the Institute of Geophysics and Meteorology at the University of Cologne in Germany. His research focuses on turbulence in Saturn’s magnetosphere for which he developed a tool to evaluate reduced power spectra for a given energy distribution in k-space. This tool was presented at the EGU and can be used to test the implications of the spacecraft’s measurement geometry, e.g., the angle between relative plasma velocity and background magnetic field, for a given turbulence model, e.g., a critically balanced cascade on MHD and kinetic scales.
