The 2014 Outstanding Student Poster (OSP) Award is awarded to Merit van den Berg for the poster/PICO entitled:

Seasonal and diurnal patterns of CH4 and CO2 fluxes from a reed-vegetated fen in South-West Germany (van den Berg, M.; Lamers, M.; Ingwersen, J.; Streck, T.)

Merit van den Berg is a PhD student at the Institute of Soil Science and Land Evaluation at the University Hohenheim under supervision of Prof. Thilo Streck and Dr. Joachim Ingwersen. Since 2012 she is working in the largest peatland of South-West Germany, to measure CH4 and CO2 fluxes with the eddy covariance method. The results of the first year were presented on the poster of the EGU General Assembly 2014. The poster gives an overview of the influence of different factors like climate and vegetation on the fluxes of both gases. Especially the results for CH4 are very interesting; they indicate that the gas transport through the stems of the reed vegetation highly affects the CH4 fluxes during the growing season.
