Zachary Girazian
PS Planetary and Solar System Sciences
The 2013 Outstanding Student Poster (OSP) Award is awarded to Zachary Girazian for the poster/PICO entitled:
The dependence of peak electron density on solar irradiance in the ionosphere of Mars (Zachary, G., Withers, P.; Fallows, K.)

Zachary is an astronomy PhD student at Boston University and his research advisor is Paul Withers. A NASA Earth and Space Science Fellow, Zachary studies the structure and variability of the Venus and Mars ionospheres. The similarities and differences between these ionospheres provide insights into atmospheric processes on nonmagnetized terrestrial planets. His EGU poster explored how the peak electron density in the ionosphere of Mars depends on the sun’s extreme ultraviolet irradiance. The results of the poster were published in Geophysical Research Letters in 2013.
