I am a PhD student at the Institute of Geodynamics of the Romanian Academy. The research for my PhD thesis focuses on the characteristics of high frequency ingredients of the secular variation at the top of the Earth’s core as seen in main field geomagnetic models. One important observation related to this topic is that, unaccounted for, residual external variations in annual means at geomagnetic observations leaks into the main field model based on observatory data. I my poster I singled out that signal in case of gufm1 (Jackson et. al, 2000). The results could be used to infer information on geoeffectiveness of the solar activity back to 1630.
