Claudia is a PhD student at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark and at Fondazione Edmund Mach, Italy. She obtained her MSc degree in Agricultural Sciences at the University of Pisa and at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Pisa, where she was holder of a full scholarship. In her research activity she is investigating land use change effects on soil carbon dynamics, with a particular focus on natural afforestation of grasslands. In her poster, she shows how soil organic carbon stocks and its physically separated fractions change after the colonization of an alpine grassland area located in Trentino region, northern Italy. Even if no significant difference in total soil organic carbon stocks emerged, there was an overall improvement in soil aggregation in forested sites compared to grassland ones, and an increase of carbon located in labile SOC pool, such as particulate organic matter
