Auguste Gires is an “Ingénieur des Ponts Eaux et Forêt”, currently resarch assistant in Ecole des Ponts ParisTech in Paris. He works in the “Hydrometeorology and complexity” team of « Laboratoire Eau Environnement et Systèmes Urbains LEESU ». He is in the last year of his PhD, under the supervision of Pr. Daniel Schertzer. His research focuses on physically based small scale rainfall analysis and processing (downscaling and nowcasting), and its application in urban hydrology. After his PhD he will continue as research associate at Ecole des Ponts ParisTech in the framework of the EU NEW Interreg IV RainGain project that aims at implementing X-band radars in urban areas.
