Sanem Açıkalın finished her PhD at Department of Geological Engineering of the Eskisehir Osmangazi University (Turkey) in June 2011. Her research interest focuses on reconstruction of the paleoclimatic and paleoceanographic conditions of the basins and distinguishing records of local events from global ones. In her PhD she mainly worked on Late Cretaceous deep-marine sediments of northern branch of NeoTethys and on the K-Pg mass extinction. The EGU-2011 poster presents a detailed documentation of a first complete K-Pg boundary section from Turkey, which holds key data to contribute to the main debate on the topic.
