Karin Bauch is a PhD student at the Institut für Planetologie at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität of Münster, Germany. Her research focuses on studying the surface temperature variations of planetary airless bodies, such as Mercury and the Moon. The poster at the EGU General Assembly 2011 presented how thermophysical properties (“thermal inertia”) influence the temperatures of the lunar surface during the night. Furthermore maps of thermal inertia for different study regions, such as the Apollo 17 landing site in Taurus-Littrow valley, Lichtenberg and Copernicus Crater were presented.
