Stéphanie Horion is a PhD student in Geography at the University of Liège (Belgium) with a research background in remote sensing (Land and Ocean applications), GIS and agrometeorology. Her PhD research focuses on the impact of climate variability on croplands and grasslands at regional scale. In March 2009, she joined the Land Management and Natural Hazards Unit of the Joint Research Centre (European Commission) to work on drought monitoring in Africa.
