Maria Tous is a PhD student at the Physics Department of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), Spain. She works under the supervision of Dr. Romualdo Romero. Her research is focused on “medicanes” or “mediterranean hurricanes” (tropical-like cyclones which develop over the Mediterranean Sea, sometimes attaining hurricane intensity) and pursues the quantitative assessment of medicanes risk under present and future climate conditions.
