The 2010 Young Scientist Outstanding Poster Paper (YSOPP) Award is awarded to Eefke M. van der Lee for the poster/PICO entitled:
Observation of interior and boundary-layer mixing processes due to near-inertial waves in a stratified basin without tides (Van der Lee, E. M.; Umlauf, L.)

Eefke van der Lee is currently a PhD student at the Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research Warnemünde in Germany under the supervision of Dr. Lars Umlauf. She is looking at mixing by (near-inertial) internal waves in a tideless basin in the Baltic Sea using a variety of measurement techniques at sea. She compares the centre of the basin with the sloping boundaries and the interior of the water column with the bottom boundary layer to estimate the importance of (near-inertial) internal waves in diapycnal mixing.
