Daan Blok is a PhD student at the department of Nature Conservation and Plant Ecology at Wageningen University in The Netherlands. His research is focused on the influence of vegetation on permafrost thaw in the Siberian Arctic tundra. The poster presented during EGU 2010 showed results of a combination of dendrochronological and remote sensing methods to study the response of Arctic deciduous shrubs to the main climate drivers and the role of shrubs in Arctic greening.
