Alfonso Lag is a PhD student who belongs to the Soil Science Group, a division of the Department of Agrochemistry and Environment at Miguel Hernández University, Spain. The focus of his PhD study is to use waste like sewage sludge compost and/or sewage water as nutritional input, growing energy crops adapted to local conditions, like cynara cardunculus, to protect and preserve the soil. The poster presented at the EGU 2010 shows the results of biomass and soil parameters of the first cynara cardunculus production cycle (2008-2009) in a calcareous Mediterranean soil, where different compost doses were applied as amendment.
