The 2008 Young Scientist Outstanding Poster Paper (YSOPP) Award is awarded to Frank Grießbaum for the poster/PICO entitled:

Uncertainties in CO2 transfer velocities due to bias in shipboard wind measurements caused by airflow distortion (Grießbaum, F.; Moat, B.I.; Narita, Y.; Yelland, M.J.; Klemm, O.; Uematsu, M.)

Frank Griessbaum is a PhD student at the Institute of Landscape Ecology (ILÖK) at the University of Münster, Germany, supervised by Otto Klemm. During his PhD he stayed three years as a visiting researcher in the group of Mitsuo Uematsu at the Ocean Research Institute (ORI) of The University of Tokyo, Japan. His research is focusing on CO2 and aerosol fluxes across the air-sea surface employing the eddy-covariance technique. His EGU-poster is dealing with the impact of platform induced airflow distortion on transfer velocities utilizing large eddy simulation (LES) modeling on digital ship geometries supported by Ben Moat and Margaret Yelland from the National Oceanography Centre (NOC), Southampton, UK.
