The 2006 Young Scientist Outstanding Poster Paper (YSOPP) Award is awarded to Laure Zanna for the poster/PICO entitled:
Non-normal Amplification of the Thermohaline Circulation (Zanna, L.; Tziperman, E.; Heimbach, P.)

Laure is a Ph.D. student in the department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Harvard University. Her thesis focuses on the non-normal dynamics of the thermohaline circulation in present-day climate. More specifically, she combines numerical models and analytical tools in order to investigate how small perturbations could lead to a large transient amplification of the thermohaline circulation due to its non-normal dynamics.
