Sarah Brown receives the EGU Katja and Maurice Krafft award 2022 for exceptional science communication. She has taken the lead role in the VolFilm project to produce and disseminate short volcanic hazard and risk awareness films in multiple languages. These videos are the intellectual successors to the outreach films produced by the Kraffts, updated to reflect changes in our understanding of volcanoes and improvements in technology, more tightly focused to better fit current communication approaches, and freely available to anyone in the world. Films were produced in seven different languages to reach a broad segment of the global population.
