The award, established in 2023, recognises the significant contributions by an individual or a team who have put into exemplary practice the principles of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), resulting in a positive change in the experience of the geoscience community. The recipient(s) should be role models who have built respectful and inclusive workplaces for the geoscience community, and/or have implemented innovative actions that advance the diversity of the geoscience community.

The award recognises a scientist or a team that meets one or, preferably, both of the following criteria:

• Achieving excellence in developing and implementing innovative initiatives or activities resulting in a positive change in the geoscience community.
• Nominees must be individuals or teams engaged in any of the science disciplines represented by the EGU such as the Earth, planetary or space sciences . The creator(s) and/or practitioner(s) of the activity(ies) should be nominated. The nominee does not need to be an EGU member, although the nominee should have a connection to the EGU. The nominator must be an EGU member.
