Educators and teachers: apply now to take part in the 2019 GIFT workshop!

16 October 2018

The Geosciences Information For Teachers (GIFT) workshop is taking place on April 8–10 2019 at the EGU General Assembly in Vienna, Austria. It will be preceded on Sunday, April 7, by a guided visit to the splendid Vienna Natural History Museum, one of the most renowned in the world.

The topic of the 2019 edition of GIFT is ‘Plate tectonics and Earth’s structure – yesterday, today, tomorrow’. Over two and a half days, the workshop will explore the major processes and structures of plate tectonics and our planet, through topical presentations from scientists at the cutting-edge of research, together with hands-on teaching activities, following the tradition of GIFT workshops.

Teachers are also invited on a voluntary basis, to present classroom strategies and activities that they may have developed with their pupils in the poster session ‘Science in future classrooms’, which is an integral part of the GIFT workshop.

Teachers and educators from Europe and around the world can apply to participate in the 2019 edition of GIFT by 12 November 2018 by filling in an online application form. Successful teachers receive a partial travel and accommodation stipend to attend the workshop, and will be notified of the results of their application by 10 December 2018.
