Apply for a Tertiary Education Geoscience Teaching Materials award: 2025!

16 June 2025

The European Geosciences Union (EGU) is inviting applications for grants to deliver geoscience teaching materials at university level. There will be a total of 10 awards funded in 2025. These higher education teaching grants, of up to 750 EUR each, can be on any geoscience topic, including laboratory or fieldwork. The grant will be awarded in full upon the submission of the final teaching package.

In 2025, preference will be given to topics and subject areas not covered in previous awards. Applications that are cross-disciplinary and/or multinational, or include early career staff or staff-student collaborations, are especially encouraged.

The teaching packages, which must be self-contained and with all components copyright-free, will be advertised and made available online. The contents will be fully attributed to the author(s), and the expectation is that the resources should be made freely available for download from the EGU website and also from the authors’ personal or institutional website (EGU will advertise a link to this resource). The teaching packages must be accompanied by all the necessary digital or video resources in addition to data, background information, student worksheets, and a reading list.

The teaching materials must be original and written in English. Applications are welcome from any country. Teaching packages will ideally have been either trialed or co-authored with university or college students prior to submission.

A CV of the authors and a general presentation of the proposed resources are expected for the application for this call.

The application deadline is 10 July 2025. Successful applicants will be informed by 30 July 2025. The final teaching packages must be submitted by 25 November 2025. All proposals will be reviewed based on the above criteria and the scientific and pedagogic merit, timeliness, relevance, and feasibility of the project, and all decisions are final.
