This webinar will provide participants with insights on the following questions related to science-policy dialogue in the context of multilateral environmental negotiations:

Why: Why is science important in multilateral environmental negotiations and what does it have to do with you as a scientist?
What: What are multilateral environmental negotiations, how do they work and what are the ways for scientists to participate there?
How: How can environmental scientists reach decision makers in multilateral environmental negotiations through dialogue and relation building?
 

Speaker

Axel Eriksson is a stubborn optimist with a love for life on Earth. He combines expertise in both environmental science and policy as a researcher, educator and policy advisor. In particular, he is one of 14 members of the UN Secretary-General's Youth Advisory Group on Climate Change, providing advice to UN Secretary-General António Guterres on his climate agenda. His research focuses on scenarios towards society in harmony with nature, by combining participatory methods and quantitative modelling. As the Training Manager of the Climate Youth Negotiator Programme 2024-2025, he contributed to capacity building and other support for over 500 young people from over 75 countries to represent their governments in the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
