Submit your abstract and register for the EGU General Assembly 2019

20 December 2018

The EGU General Assembly 2019, which is taking place in Vienna, Austria from 7–12 April, will bring together geoscientists from all over the world to one meeting covering all disciplines of the Earth, planetary and space sciences. The deadline for abstract submission is 10 January, 13:00 CET.

Make sure to not miss out on this event, the largest and most prominent geosciences conference in Europe. Established and early career scientists – including undergraduate and graduate students – are encouraged to submit an abstract to present their research at the conference.

You can browse through the EGU General Assembly 2019 sessions online (Call-for-abstracts). Clicking on ‘please select’ will allow you to search for sessions by Programme Group (e.g. NH: Natural Hazards) and submit your abstract to the relevant session either as plain text, LaTeX, or Word document. Further guidelines on how to submit an abstract are available on the conference website. Note that, in 2019, poster, oral and PICO presentations will be scheduled throughout the day.

As announced a few weeks ago, only one abstract as first author will be permitted, with a few exceptions. Authors are allowed as first author to submit either one regular abstract plus one abstract solicited by a convener, or two solicited abstracts. A second regular abstract can be submitted to the Educational and Outreach Sessions (EOS) programme group.

In addition, only EGU members will be able to submit abstracts to the meeting. To become a member, go to www.egu.eu/membership/, where you can also renew your EGU membership. You can also renew or buy your membership while registering for the EGU General Assembly. Students receive a 50% discount in their EGU membership rates, and all EGU members benefit from substantially reduced registration rates to the meeting, amongst other benefits. Early registration for the conference is open until 28 February 2019.

Since 2018, the EGU gives General Assembly participants the opportunity to offset the carbon emissions resulting from their travel to and from Vienna by contributing to a carbon offsetting scheme when they register to the meeting. In 2019, participants to the conference will be able to donate to one of three different carbon-offset projects by choosing the carbon-offsetting option when registering to the meeting.

If you are a journalist or public information officer, please check the EGU General Assembly 2019 online press centre for information about media participation at the Assembly.
