Call for EGU Galileo Conference Proposals

25 January 2021

EGU is currently accepting proposals for Galileo Conferences to be held from March 2022 through February 2023. These fully supported gatherings address well-focused, cutting-edge topics at the frontiers of Earth, planetary, or space science research. Any EGU member may propose to organise one.

During a Galileo Conference, a limited number of participants—typically about one hundred international scientists—meet for 3–5 days to discuss and debate issues at the forefront of the proposed conference topic. These flagship meetings are informal: the state-of-the-art is outlined in keynote presentations designed to trigger in-depth discussion of important aspects of the selected topic.

EGU provides comprehensive organisational support to the EGU Galileo Conferences, thereby allowing the organising committees to focus on the scientific aspects of the meeting. Web hosting and registration management are provided by EGU. The costs of other logistical services (e.g., venue, poster boards, catering, Wi-Fi, etc.) are negotiated with the providers by EGU and are covered by registration fees and financial assistance from other organisations. In addition, EGU provides €5000 to support the participation of Early Career Scientists in the event.

If you are interested in organising a Galileo Conference, please read the proposal and submission information and then submit your idea via the proposal form on the EGU website. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday 2 March 2021.
