HIGHLIGHTS
This month, a 6.2 magnitude earthquake hit central Italy, resulting in extensive damage and close to 300 fatalities. On the day of this tragic event, we put together information – with the help of officers from the Seismology and Natural Hazards Divisions – about what caused the earthquake and why it was so destructive. In other news, EGU members have a few more days to propose a candidate to be the next EGU treasurer or division presidents (deadline 15 September). Those interested in convening sessions at the EGU General Assembly can submit their ideas by 9 September.
