Dear Colleagues, Welcome to the January newsletter of the EGU Hydrological Sciences Division! This month, we are inviting you to apply for the EGU EDI participation support scheme, gather around a virtual campfire to talk about socio-hydrology, participate in an exciting workshop, and join the mentoring programme. As always, we also share the highlights of the HS blog! Have a fantastic beginning of 2025 and a great year ahead! Alberto Viglione, Division President Christina Orieschnig & Melissa Reidy, ECS Reps

HISTORY OF HYDROLOGY@EGU2025 AND BEYOND
|
Looking back to those who shaped our science, the questions they addressed and those that remain open is essential to understand the role of hydrology in earth system sciences, in the development of field research methods, and modelling approaches. Catch up on the activities of the History of Hydrology working group - from an EGU25 session, over a special issue, to its wiki and video interviews.

HOW DO YOU ENSURE QUALITY IN YOUR FLOW MODELING? PARTICIPATE IN A SURVEY!
|
The challenges in hydraulic engineering are increasing due to the growing threat of floods and heavy rainfall events caused by climate change. Reliable models to estimate hydraulic variables are therefore essential - as well as standardized concepts for their quality assurance (QA) and quality management (QM). To provide such concepts, the Institute for Water and Environment at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology is conducting an international survey - and your opinions are wanted!
