Job description

The Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher for marine multichannel seismic surveys.

GTK is acquiring a new high-resolution multichannel seismic system for our coastal research vessel Geomari, which you will use for scientific research and be responsible for developing data processing and interpretation for scientific and commercial projects. The science project will study the internal structure of glacial landforms and (paleo)geomorphology of buried till beds in Finnish sea areas to gain important new insight in the past glacial dynamics. Your task will be to present the project results in international conferences and scientific publications. Your task will also be to supervise a PhD student and acquire funding for future research projects.

The starting date is 01.02.2025 or by agreement. The position is fixed term for 3 years. The position includes a probationary period. You will work in the Marine Geology team of the Environmental Solutions unit with 60 professionals. Your office will be in Espoo in the Helsinki capital area. You can also work remotely flexibly in Finland.
