for his innovative experimental and wideranging scientific contributions to dust research throughout the heliosphere

Eberhard Grün has reached his international reputation in a number of topics in planetary physics and astronomy: laboratory studies of impact processes, development of space borne experiments, analysis of imaging data, astronomical observations of comets, study of dynamics and chemistry of meteorids, investigation of ring dynamics and dust-magnetosphere interactions, study of cometary phenomena and simulation of cometary processes in laboratory.

These researches resulted in more than 200 scientific publications.

Eberhard Grün was Principal Investigator of the dust experiments on board the space missions Helios, Ulysses and Galileo. He is presently P. I. of the dust experiment aboard the spacecraft of the Cassini-Huygens mission which will orbit in the Saturn System from 2004 to 2008. He is also Interdisciplinary Scientist of Rosetta, as well as co-investigator of various investigations on the orbiter and on the lander of this mission.

He also has been very active in a number of scientific organizations.
