EGU awarded a Commemorative Centennial Plaque by IUGG

29 July 2019

This year, the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) is celebrating 100 years since its establishment on 28 July 1919. As part of the celebrations of its centennial, IUGG organised an event on International Cooperation in Earth and Space Sciences today in Paris, France, in which the EGU President Alberto Montanari is participating.

During this event, the EGU President received, on behalf of the EGU, a Centennial Commemorative Plaque awarded by the IUGG to celebrate international scientific cooperation in the geosciences. The EGU President shared the stage with IUGG founding members and partner organisations, as well as with Prince Albert II of Monaco, who received an IUGG Honorary Membership.

The EGU President is also giving a talk on Water and Life during a session on Earth Science for Sustainable Development at the event.
